Quote template for videographers
A videography quote has two halves: production and post. Production is shoot days, crew, kit, locations and travel. Post is editing, colour, sound and delivery. Quote them separately even if you do both, because clients often change one without the other, and you need to see which side a change affects.
Write down what the day includes. How many hours, how many locations, whether you need a recce, who arranges permits and releases. A day at one office is not the same as a day across three sites with a company move in between.

What a videographer's quote should spell out
- Number of shoot days or half days, hours per day and the overtime rate.
- Crew and equipment, including anything hired in.
- Locations, travel and who arranges permits and access.
- Weather or reschedule terms for outdoor shoots.
- Post-production scope, or that post is quoted separately.
- Raw footage: whether it is delivered, in what format, and for how long it is kept.
Questions videographers ask
Who owns the raw footage from a video shoot?
Whoever the contract says. Many videographers deliver the edited film and keep the rushes, or sell the raw footage as a separate item. Put it in the quote so the client does not assume it comes free.
What happens if the shoot is rained out?
Set it in the quote. A common approach is a weather day: if the client or you call off the shoot for weather before an agreed time, it moves to a new date for a reduced fee. If it is called off on the day, part of the day rate applies.
Should a videographer quote include editing?
It can, but list it separately from the shoot. Some clients have their own editor, and splitting the two lets them choose without asking you to rework the quote.
