A Frame.io alternative that also runs the job
Frame.io is review and approval for video teams, built around frame-accurate comments and fast playback. OIO is project management for agencies and studios that does client review too: the client pins notes on a render or comments on a cut at the second, approves the version, and the tickets, the freelancers and the invoice sit on the same page. If the review tool is where your jobs live and everything else is in four other apps, this is the comparison.
What Frame.io is good at
Frame.io is the reference tool for video review. Comments are frame-accurate and can cover a range, reviewers draw on the frame, and versions stack so each round sits on the last. Share links open without an account, clients can review on the iPhone and iPad apps, and Camera to Cloud uploads takes from the set as they are shot. With the Premiere and Final Cut Pro integrations, the comments show up inside the edit.
Where it stops
- It reviews the work; it does not run the job. Its pricing page lists no tasks, schedules, quotes or invoices, so who does what by when and what the client was billed live in other tools.
- It is priced per member. The free plan is for up to two members with 2 GB of storage, Pro goes up to five members and Team up to fifteen, per its pricing page.
- Passphrase protection, expiring share links and switching off downloads start on the paid plans.
What OIO does instead
OIO gives each client job one project page: tickets on a kanban or a timeline, the deadline, files, team chat and, on paid plans, recorded calls with transcripts. Review happens on the ticket. Upload a render and the client pins numbered notes on it. Upload a cut and they comment at the second, optionally on a spot of the paused frame, and each comment is a numbered marker on the timeline.
Each round goes up as a new version, and the client clicks Approve this version when it is right. OIO keeps who approved which version and when, and tells you. A ticket waiting on the client carries a Needs feedback marker, and the client gets one reminder email a day, which you can switch off.
Freelancers work from a link to their ticket with no account and no seat: they read the brief and the notes, upload the next version and mark it done. The quote and the invoice come from the same project, in any currency. Studio is $99 a month for five seats, people who only view use no seat, and the free plan covers one project, no card.

When Frame.io is the better fit
- If your clients draw on the frame and give notes to the exact frame, Frame.io is the better fit. OIO comments sit at the second, with an optional spot on the frame, and there is no drawing.
- If your editors want the client's comments inside Premiere or Final Cut Pro, Frame.io is the better fit. OIO has no editing software integrations.
- If you upload takes from the set with Camera to Cloud, Frame.io is the better fit.
- If you store terabytes of footage in the review tool, Frame.io is the better fit. Its paid plans start at 2 TB of storage.

Questions
Is OIO a good Frame.io alternative?
If you use Frame.io to collect client notes and approvals on renders and cuts, and run the rest of the job somewhere else, yes: OIO does the review on the ticket and keeps the tasks, the freelancers and the invoice on the same project. If your editors depend on frame-accurate notes with drawings inside Premiere or Final Cut Pro, keep Frame.io for review and run the project in OIO.
Can clients comment on a video in OIO?
Yes. The client plays the video and comments at the moment, optionally on a spot of the paused frame. Every comment is a numbered marker on the timeline, the team resolves it when it is done, and the client approves the version when it is right.
Does Frame.io do project management or invoicing?
Not according to its pricing page, which lists review, sharing, storage and integrations. Teams that use it for client work keep tasks and invoices in other tools. In OIO the quote and the invoice come from the same project the review happens on.
Can freelancers work in OIO without a seat?
Yes. You send them a ticket link. They read the brief and the feedback, upload the work and mark it done in a browser, with no account. If they want to keep a history of their work, they can create a free account later.
