Quote template for interior designers
An interior design quote needs to cover two things clients rarely separate in their heads: the design service and the budget for the things being bought. Quote the design fee per room, per stage or as a flat project fee, and give a separate furnishing budget estimate. A client who sees a design fee and a furnishing budget side by side makes better decisions than one who only sees a total.
Spell out how procurement works before any shopping starts: whether you charge a percentage, a flat fee, or a markup on trade prices, how deposits work, and what happens with returns. Custom upholstery and made-to-order lighting usually cannot be returned, and lead times of several months are normal. The quote is the place to say so.

What a interior designer's quote should spell out
- Rooms or areas covered and the stages: concept, design development, procurement, installation.
- Design fee basis: per room, per stage, flat project fee, or hourly.
- Procurement method: client buys direct, procurement fee, or trade markup.
- Number of design revisions, site visits and contractor meetings included.
- Deposit and payment rules for orders, plus returns and restocking terms.
- An estimated furnishing budget, stated as separate from the design fee.
Questions interior designers ask
How do interior designers price a project?
Commonly per room or as a flat fee for the design, with procurement priced separately as a percentage, flat fee or markup. Hourly works for consultations and small jobs. Choose one model for the design and one for procurement and say both in the quote.
Should the quote include the furniture budget?
Include an estimate, clearly labelled as separate from your fee. It helps the client plan and keeps the design realistic. The actual costs are confirmed item by item before ordering.
How do I handle long lead times in a quote?
State that custom items commonly take months and that delivery dates depend on suppliers. Plan the installation date around confirmed delivery, not the date the client would like.
Quote it, then invoice it, without retyping
In OIO a proposal belongs to its client and project. When it's accepted it becomes an invoice draft with the same lines, and the money view shows what is outstanding and what is paid. Free plan, no card.
