Quote template for 3D artists
Most 3D quotes go wrong at the input stage. A client says "we have the CAD", and the CAD turns out to be a STEP file with 40,000 parts and no materials. Your quote should say exactly what you are starting from and what happens if the input is not usable, because cleaning up geometry can take longer than the modelling itself.
Price assets and shots separately. The model is built once; each extra camera angle or animation shot reuses it. Quoting it this way lets the client add a shot later without renegotiating the whole job, and it makes it obvious why the first image costs more than the fifth.

What a 3D artist's quote should spell out
- What the client supplies (CAD, reference photos, brand colours, material samples) and by when.
- Number of assets, number of shots or frames, resolution and file format.
- Revision rounds included at each stage: blockout, look development, final lighting.
- Whether render time is included or billed at cost.
- Whether source scene files are part of the delivery.
- How long the quote is valid, since render farm prices and your calendar both move.
Quoting a multi-shot 3D job as a studio
Build the quote from the shot list. Each shot gets its own line with frame count, resolution and the assets it uses, and the asset build is quoted once at the top. The client then sees that shot 7 is cheap because it reuses the hero model, and can drop or add a shot without reopening the whole quote.
Add a separate line for render time and say whether it covers your own GPUs or a farm. On a studio job several people render in parallel, and the farm bill for a week of late revisions can be larger than one artist's day rate.
Questions 3D artists ask
How many revisions should a 3D quote include?
Two rounds per stage is common: two on the blockout or clay render, two on materials and lighting. Tie each round to a stage so a material change requested after final lighting is clearly a new round.
How do I quote when the brief is vague?
Quote a paid first step, such as a day of blockout and style frames, and quote the rest once those are approved. It protects you from guessing, and the client gets something concrete before committing the full budget.
Should I show my day rate on a 3D quote?
You can quote per item and keep the day rate for changes outside scope. If you do show it, show it once, in the line for extra revision rounds, so the client knows what a change will cost before asking for one.
Quote it, then invoice it, without retyping
In OIO a proposal belongs to its client and project. When it's accepted it becomes an invoice draft with the same lines, and the money view shows what is outstanding and what is paid. Free plan, no card.
