A HoneyBook alternative, and real project management
HoneyBook automates the path from enquiry to payment. OIO covers the same path and adds real project management: each client job gets one page with its tickets on a kanban or a timeline, status, budget and hours, team chat, files and recorded calls. It works in any currency, from any country.
OIO does not process card payments. Your client pays you by bank transfer, your own payment link or crypto, and you mark the invoice paid. HoneyBook takes the payment for you.
What HoneyBook is good at
HoneyBook is built around the path from enquiry to payment, and it runs that path well. Lead forms, proposals, contracts with e-signatures, invoices, and the client pays online by card or bank transfer. It sends the payment reminders for you, and its pricing page lists AI features on every plan. If getting paid online with as little chasing as possible is what you want automated, that is its strength.
Where it stops
- Its pricing page says it is available for businesses in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia. If you are based anywhere else, it is not an option.
- Team members are set by plan: its pricing page lists up to two on Essentials and unlimited on Premium.
- It is organised around the client pipeline. If most of your week is the delivery itself, the boards, tickets, files and conversation with a team, check that side fits how you work before you move everything in.
What OIO does instead
OIO is project management for client work. Each client job gets one page with its tickets on a kanban or a timeline, status, budget and hours, deadline, files, team chat and recorded calls. Around it sit the inquiry form that brings the lead in, the prospect pipeline, and the proposal and invoice that come from the same project.
Your client logs into the same place with their own account and sees only their side: their project, their documents, their invoices. You can invite someone who is not on OIO yet, and they see the project once they sign up. Contracts and proposals go out for signature as a link, and the client signs on any device without an account.
One price covers the work and the money. Viewers are free and use no seat; only people who edit your work do, and Studio comes with five.
OIO also does not send payment reminders on its own. Overdue invoices get their own list, and OIO drafts the reminder for you to send from your own mail.

HoneyBook's column was checked against honeybook.com on 5 October 2026. The middle mark means it exists in a limited form: HoneyBook lists USD, CAD, GBP and AUD. Prices are left out on purpose because they change. Sources: HoneyBook pricing, HoneyBook online invoices.
Questions
Is OIO a good HoneyBook alternative?
If you work outside the US, Canada, the UK or Australia, or bill in other currencies, yes: HoneyBook lists only those four countries. If you want project boards, tickets, files and team chat next to the invoices, OIO has them. If you want clients to pay by card inside the app and reminders sent for you, HoneyBook does that and OIO does not.
Does OIO take payments like HoneyBook?
No. OIO issues invoices and proposals, shows what is outstanding and what is paid, and drafts the reminder for an overdue invoice. The client pays you by bank transfer, your own payment link or crypto, and you mark the invoice paid. HoneyBook processes card and bank payments itself.
