Quote template for marketing consultants
A marketing quote should separate the plan from the work of carrying it out. Quote the strategy phase as a fixed fee with named deliverables: an audit, a positioning document, a channel plan, a budget recommendation. Then quote execution as a monthly retainer with a set number of hours or a defined list of activities. The client can buy the plan alone, and you are not stuck running a plan someone else wrote.
Be careful with anything that sounds like a promise. Leads, revenue, cost per acquisition and return on ad spend depend on the product, the price, the sales team and the market. Your quote can describe what you will do and how you will measure it. It should not name a number the client will hold you to.

What a marketing consultant's quote should spell out
- Strategy deliverables by name, with formats (document, deck, spreadsheet) and the number of review rounds.
- Execution scope: channels, campaigns per month, hours included, and who produces creative.
- Number of workshops or stakeholder interviews, and whether they are on site or remote.
- Media spend: a recommended budget, stated as separate from your fee and paid by the client.
- What the client provides: data access, analytics, CRM, brand assets, a decision maker.
- Reporting cadence and which metrics will be reported, without promising targets.
Questions marketing consultants ask
How do marketing consultants price a strategy project?
Most quote a fixed fee based on an estimate of days, then present it as a deliverable rather than a day count. Clients find it easier to approve "a go-to-market plan" than "eight days", and you are rewarded for working efficiently.
Should a marketing consultant guarantee results?
No. Results depend on things you do not control, like pricing, product and how fast sales follows up on leads. Describe the work, the measurement and the reporting, and agree to review the plan if the numbers are not moving.
Retainer or project fee for marketing consulting?
Use a project fee for the strategy, then a retainer for ongoing execution or advisory. A retainer on its own, without a defined first project, often ends with the client unsure what they bought.
Quote it, then invoice it, without retyping
