Quote template for voice actors
Before you quote a voice job, get four answers: the script length, where it will be used, in which countries, and for how long. A thirty-second script can be a modest internal video or a national broadcast campaign, and the usage is what separates the two prices. If the client cannot answer, quote the usage you know about and say others are licensed separately.
Also settle versions and pickups. Clients often want a few tags, alternate reads or cutdowns from one session. Say how many are included. And say whether you deliver raw takes or edited, cleaned files, because editing takes time that someone has to pay for.

What a voice actor's quote should spell out
- Script length or estimated finished minutes, and the number of versions or tags.
- Usage: media, territory and term, and what happens when the term ends.
- Whether the session is self-directed or directed live, and any studio costs.
- Deliverables: raw or edited files, file format, sample rate, naming.
- Pickups included and the rate for pickups caused by script changes.
- Any restriction on using the recording to train or clone a synthetic voice.
Questions voice actors ask
How much should a voice actor charge for a commercial?
Start from your session fee and add usage based on media, territory and term. Many voice actors refer to published rate guides from their market or union, then adjust. Quote the usage on its own line so the client sees what drives the price.
What is a buyout in voice acting?
A buyout is a licence for broad or unlimited use, often all media, worldwide, for a long term or in perpetuity. Because it replaces future renewal fees, it is priced well above a single-use licence. Write the scope of the buyout out in full.
Should a voice quote mention AI?
Yes. State that the recordings may not be used to train, clone or generate a synthetic version of your voice without a separate written agreement. Clients rarely object when it is said upfront.
