PNG and JPG to WebP converter

Convert PNG and JPG images to WebP for a client's website. WebP files are usually much smaller at the same visible quality, and PNG transparency is kept.

Your files never leave your computer. They are processed in this browser tab.

Quality 80

80 is a common choice for websites. 100 is the largest file, not lossless.

How to use it

  1. Drop PNG or JPG images, or tap the box to pick them.
  2. Choose a quality. 80 is a common setting for websites.
  3. Download each WebP, or all of them as a ZIP.

Free, no account. The page loads once, then the work happens in your browser. We don't receive the file, its name or anything in it.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The file is opened by this browser tab and processed on your computer. There is no upload step, so we never see the file or its name, and closing the tab throws the work away.

Does WebP work in every browser?

Every current browser shows WebP, including Safari since version 14. Some email programs and older desktop software still do not, so keep JPG for email.

Why does it say my browser cannot save WebP?

Safari can show WebP images but cannot create them inside a web page. Use Chrome, Edge or Firefox for this converter.

Is transparency kept?

Yes. Transparent parts of a PNG stay transparent in the WebP.
