Compress image files

Shrink JPG, PNG and WebP images before you email them, upload them to a client's site or drop them in a deck. Pick a quality and compare the sizes before you download.

Your files never leave your computer. They are processed in this browser tab.

How to use it

  1. Drop your images, or tap the box to pick them.
  2. Choose a quality and, if you like, a maximum width. The new size shows next to each image.
  3. Download them one by one, or all together as a ZIP.

Free, no account. The page loads once, then the work happens in your browser. We don't receive the file, its name or anything in it.

Questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. The file is opened by this browser tab and processed on your computer. There is no upload step, so we never see the file or its name, and closing the tab throws the work away.

How much smaller will my images get?

Photos straight from a phone or camera shrink the most, especially with a maximum width set, because they are far larger than any screen needs. Images already optimised for the web change much less. The size of each result shows before you download.

What happens to a PNG?

A browser cannot squeeze a PNG much without changing its format, so PNGs are saved as WebP, which keeps transparency. Switch the format to JPG if the receiver needs JPG, and transparent areas become white.

Is the photo's location data kept?

No. Re-encoding in the browser drops EXIF data such as camera details and GPS location, which is usually what you want before sending a photo to someone else.
